Group B Strep Culture

The bacteria, Group B Streptococcus (GBS), have been seen as present in the lower genital tract of many women. This infection is not dangerous for normal women but might increase risks during prenancy. It can cause illness in the mother and infections like chorioamnionitis and postpartum contagion. This can lead to preterm labour and birth. The baby might also contract this life-threatening urinary tract infection during the delivery.
It is recommended to all pregnant women to have this test done for vaginal and rectal group B strep colonization. The treatment of this infection, with the help of antibiotics, can reduce the risk of the baby being infected. - Blood Pressure:
